Led by two aviation insurance leaders, the AIA’s Introduction to Aviation Insurance course is intended for new aviation insurance professionals with less than one year of experience in the field. This half-day course offers a high-level overview of aviation insurance. With this course, students will solidify their knowledge of the basics, accelerate their understanding of key concepts and terminology, and gain insight into resources for further professional development. Topics discussed include basics about insurance and the market, key terminology, the aircraft hull & liability policy, claims handling, the current state of the market, and more.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

Tom Murphy is an Assistant Vice President and Senior Underwriter for AXA XL. Previously, he served as an aviation insurance broker at Sutton James, Inc. Tom earned his undergraduate degree from University of Connecticut and holds the Certified Aviation Insurance Professional (CAIP) Designation. He is a commercial hot air balloon pilot as well as a private fixed wing.

Joe Williams is an Aviation Insurance Broker and Managing Director of Aviation for Marsh McLennan Agency SE. Prior to that, he served as an aviation insurance underwriter at AIG and Starr. Joe earned his undergraduate degree from Auburn University and his MBA from Auburn University at Montgomery. He is a former certified flight instructor as well as a corporate pilot.
