Gain valuable leadership experience and industry connections while you shape the future of the AIA. Many AIA programs and initiatives are possible because of the dedicated our volunteer leaders. With a variety of interests, skill sets, and time commitments offered, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. Below are some of the opportunities outside of serving on the Board of Directors.
Volunteer Leadership Opportunities
Women’s Initiative
AIA launched the Women’s Initiative in 2019 to support women that are interested in increasing their involvement in the AIA and exploring leadership opportunities in the industry. In addition to an annual event during the AIA Conference, we offer additional opportunities throughout the year.
Safety Committee
The Safety Committee oversees the curation of AIA’s safety resources page as well as the Safety Report in the Binder magazine. The Committee also plans and hosts a safety-related session at the AIA Conference.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee works with the other committees and AIA staff to increase the value of your membership benefits. This Committee also supports the development of new educational and networking opportunities.
Education Committee
Interested in shaping AIA’s educational programming? The Education Committee oversees and supports all educational activities throughout the year, including webinars, courses, the conference’s CIE program, and more.
Event Assistance
In addition to the AIA Conference, we host several shorter programs and activities in the United States and abroad. Event assistance needs vary but have previously included assisting with check-in and taking photos during the event.
Binder Assistance
Articles in our quarterly Binder magazine are written by and for industry leaders. We call for article proposals ahead of each edition. Please note, space is limited and subject to review by the AIA Board of Directors.
